If you have a medical emergency, stop reading and get help now. Chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, a sudden severe headache, weakness on one side, confusion, or any symptom that frightens you — contact emergency services or go to a hospital. Nothing on this website is a substitute for that.
What this site is
The clinical content here is general health information, written by a clinical nutritionist and reviewed by a doctor. It is intended to help you understand a condition and ask better questions of your own clinician.
It is not personalised medical advice. It cannot be, because it was written without knowing your history, your examination findings or your results. A page cannot diagnose you and does not attempt to.
What it is not
- Not a diagnosis. The self-tests on this site are indications for discussion, not diagnostic instruments.
- Not a substitute for your doctor, or for examination, investigation or specialist referral.
- Not a basis for changing medication. Never start, stop, reduce or alter a prescribed medicine because of something you read here. That decision belongs to the doctor who prescribed it, always.
- Not a treatment claim. Nutrition supports the management of many conditions; for a number of them it is adjunctive and must not delay proper medical care. The relevant pages say so.
- Not a guarantee of outcome. Individual response varies, and no figure on this site is presented as what you should expect.
On the assessment and the self-tests
The assessment and the self-tests on this site are screening and orientation instruments. They indicate whether something is worth investigating and which programme may apply. A result is a prompt to have a conversation, not a finding.
BMI is calculated using Asia-Pacific cut-offs, which are appropriate for an Indian population and differ from the international thresholds. BMI is a population instrument and a poor guide to any individual, which is why waist circumference and body composition carry more weight in the assessment than it does.
On outcome figures
No success rate, rate of loss or timeline appears anywhere on this website. Where you would expect to find one, you will find a notice saying it is withheld until an audited outcome report is complete.
This is a deliberate position rather than an omission. Under the ASCI Healthcare Guidelines such a claim requires substantiation, and a disclaimer does not substitute for it.
