Treatment

U-Lipolysis

A non-invasive treatment for localised fat deposits, offered alongside a nutrition programme rather than in place of one. This page sets out what it is, who it suits, and the things it does not do.

What it is
Non-invasive, ultrasound-based
What it targets
Localised deposits, not overall weight
Sessions
A course, not a single visit
Assessment
Required before any course begins

The honest framing first. U-Lipolysis is a contouring treatment. It addresses localised deposits in a specific area. It is not a weight loss treatment, it does not treat the metabolic cause of weight gain, and it will not hold if the underlying pattern is unchanged. Anyone offering it to you as a substitute for that work is not doing you a service.

What the treatment is

U-Lipolysis uses low-frequency ultrasound applied to a defined area of the body. The intention is to act on fat cells in that area, which the body then clears through its normal routes.

It is non-invasive. There is no incision, no anaesthetic and no recovery period in the surgical sense, which is the principal reason people consider it over liposuction.

It is delivered as a course of sessions rather than as a single appointment, and the number depends on the area and on what the assessment shows.

Who it suits

The treatment has a narrow and specific indication. It works best for people who fit all of the following.

Close to your target already

This is a contouring treatment for a localised area. It is not designed for, and does not address, significant overall weight.

A specific, stubborn area

A deposit that has not responded to diet and exercise while the rest of the body has.

Alongside a nutrition plan

The treatment addresses the area. The plan addresses why it formed. Both, or the result does not hold.

Realistic about what it does

It changes contour in a defined area. It does not change the number on the scale meaningfully, and we will say so at the assessment.

What it does not do

We would rather be clear about this in advance than have the conversation afterwards.

  • It is not weight loss. The scale is not the measure of this treatment and should not be used as one.
  • It does not treat the cause. Insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction and the rest are untouched by it. If they are driving your weight, they need addressing separately.
  • It does not prevent the deposit returning. If the dietary pattern that built it continues, the result will not hold.
  • It is not a substitute for surgery where surgery is what is indicated, and it is not surgery’s equivalent.
  • It is not suitable for everyone. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant liver or kidney disease, and certain implanted devices are among the reasons a course would not proceed.

How a course runs

Assessment first, always. We do not sell a course before someone has been assessed.

Step 1 Free consultation

A clinician establishes whether the treatment is appropriate for you at all. For a proportion of people it is not, and that is the outcome of that conversation.

Step 2 Assessment

Measurements, body composition and a review of the relevant history, including anything that would make the treatment unsuitable.

Step 3 The nutrition plan first

Where a metabolic driver is present, it is addressed. The treatment is not a way around that work.

Step 4 The course

Sessions on a defined schedule, with measurements recorded at each.

Step 5 Review and maintenance

What holds the result is what you eat afterwards. That plan is part of the course, not an upsell.

Questions we are asked

How much fat will it remove, and from where?

We will not publish a figure. Under the ASCI Healthcare Guidelines a quantified outcome claim requires an audited outcome report to substantiate it, and ours is not yet complete. Your clinician will discuss what is realistic for your assessment at the free consultation.

Is it safe?

It is non-invasive and does not involve incision or anaesthetic. It is not appropriate for everyone, which is why the assessment exists and why some people are told it is not for them. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have significant liver or kidney disease, or have an implanted electronic device, tell the clinician at the consultation.

Will the result last?

That depends almost entirely on what happens afterwards. The treatment addresses an area; it does not change the pattern that produced it. This is why it is offered with a nutrition plan rather than on its own.

Can I have it instead of losing weight?

No, and if that is what you are looking for we will tell you at the consultation. It is a contouring treatment for someone already close to their target, not an alternative to addressing weight.

Does it hurt?

It is generally described as comfortable, with a warm sensation in the treated area. Anything you experience differently should be raised with the clinician during the session rather than afterwards.

The assessment comes first. It is free, and part of its purpose is to tell you if this treatment is not the right thing for you.
